Lets face it though, replacing explorer.exe can cause some major issues and security risks, especially if you don't have the source code. Looks like this one gives the source though, but it really looks like junk to me. Still needs tons of work and refinement.

but u have to remember that this project has only been around for how long and u are compairing it to products that have full access to source code and many years to mature

Exactly, without access to source code things are going to be glitchy and not work properly. Therefore, adding to the complication that may end up making it prone to crashing and/or data loss. So, proceed with caution on a test system and do not try it on Windows 8, since I am sure things won't go according to plan.

mm i duno i tryed to do a backup of my music recently and it not only failed at the 250gb copy but corrupted my whole original partition so i lost all my music as well as ~300gb worth of games

i got most of my music back using a undelete programme but no games luckly most of the games were from steam but still thats almost 2 months worth of my internet quota

pyrosrock, You are just having horrible luck. What software did you use to backup the drive? From what you just said it sounds like the drive itself is corrupt, and that has nothing to do with Windows and even Linux would have issues at that point.
