Capacity of Plexpi on RasPi 3B+ 16GB SD CARD

I have the configuration as title which is running fine. I soon realised that the SD card would not have anywhere enough capacity to hold all my multimedia. I have a NAS drive that holds all my music, video, photos etc. in a shared folder of 182GB. About 40,000 media files.

I have mounted the share on the pi and added the respective NAS folders as media sources.  Plex has been scanning the libraries and adding the media for over 24 hours now. It looks like it's nearly finished.

My question is - is a 16GB SD card big enough to hold the metadata for this many media files? Is there a practical limit to the number of files this configuration can handle? Should I backup the SD card and restore it to a 64GB SD card?

Opinions welcomed.

Hey,

I ran into a similar issue a few weeks ago. My current media library is roughly 2TB in size and Plex was unable to host all the metadata on the 16GB card I had in there. So I ended up getting a 64GB card to have it all on there. I got it mostly for peace of mind and futureproofing. Plus, it means I might be able to run more programs down the line too. If you have a 64GB card lying around, I would definitely migrate over.

Thanks for that.

My library is not as big as yours and so far so good but will keep an eye on it. I'll probably get a 64GB card in to prepare for the eventuality.
