PlexPi - External HDD Not Detected. Help!

#1
Hi All - I decided to buy a rasberry pi 3 for the purpose of soley being used for a plex server instead of using my laptop.

I bought a rasberry pi 3 and 32gb microSD. I used etcher to burn the PlexPi_1.3.img onto my microSD, and installed it into the Pi. I plugged in my External 8TB Western Digital HDD (which I presume is NTFS - I just started loading it with my media files out of the box). I am hard lined into my router, not using wifi

When I boot up the Rasberry Pi, it boots plex no problem. When I logged in, I was prompted to select folders for media library. Unfortunately - I don't see my external drive listed when I browse for media. Is there something I am missing? Any help here for a linux/RPI newb would be awesome. Thank you in advance!

Not sure what's installed by default on the image you used, but NTFS drive's need an additional package. Run the following commands on the Pi to update the package cache & install the ntfs package...

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install ntfs-3g

Hi Donco,

Have you try mounting your hard drive? Try this.
$ sudo fdisk -l (find the usb device. In my case it is /dev/sda1
$ sudo mkdir /mnt/usb
$ sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb
