V3 S3 Woes3

Almost a week with CloudFlare and I'm dropping them in favor of CloudFront.

I'll be blogging about my research and reasons for my decision(s).

Back to building an amazing CDN integration system! Smile

I actually changed things up BIG time in the CDN department. The thing is, there's a time and place where CloudFlare is ideal. And I think I found it.

I'm leveraging S3/CloudFront and CloudFlare all in one amazing slipstreamed package to increase performance, reduce costs, and all without giving CloudFlare access to the site's DNS. Freakin' brilliant! Smile

I would also love to see a blog post on how you handle the cat5.tv forwards. Is it all through Dreamhost or do you use a 3rd party service for forwarding things on that domain?

It's a free program called Yourls - http://yourls.org/

It's fantastic. GWG AKA Guru put me on to it a couple years ago and I love it. Makes it SO easy to shorten URLs, but keep control over them.

For example, I might make a short url for a product called "blah"... so cat5.tv/blah. But then the site we linked to goes down or out of business, so I can go in and edit /blah and tell it to point to a different page, or something like that.

Really, really great.

It also allows you to host your own "public" URL shortener. I opted against that since my use is strictly for the show. Wasn't looking to provide a service to the web, only to the viewers of the show.

This should be its own thread Smile
